A 3D-view of the REGEOTOP study area allows to identify areas where orographic forcing leads to high precipitation rates.
In addition to the well known precipitation centers along the southern escarpment of the Himalayas topography induceed precipitation is visible on the mountains of the western flank of the Sichuan Basin.
The view is from south east which coincedes with the summer monsoon flow direction is eastern China. The white gap in the central Himalayan range is an artefact.
